Console Window
CD/Spectrum Pro's console window is the "heart"
of the program. It is here that you can control the other windows, the engines,
and other aspects of the program. The Console contains 3 Indicators, 14
buttons, and a slider. You may right-click anywhere on the Console window
to get a context menu which presents you with configuration options. On
some areas of the window (over the indicators, for example), additional
items appear on the menu.
The Slider is used to control the master volume. It works only when
the Mixer engine is engaged.
The 3 indicators are located in the upper left corner of the Console.

"CD": This indicates
whether or not the CD engine is engaged. Right-click this indicator
to access a context menu which allows you to configure the
CD engine, as well as engage/disengage it.

"Waves": This
indicators whether or not the Waves engine is engaged. Right-click this
indicator to access a context menu which allows you to configure the
Waves engine, as well as engage/disengage it.

"Mixer": This
indicators whether or not the Mixer engine is engaged. Right-click this
indicator to access a context menu which allows you to configure the
Mixer engine, as well as engage/disengage it.
The following buttons can be found on the Console window:
- "V": Minimize - This button
allows you to minimize the program.
- "Power": This button is used
to close CD/Spectrum Pro.
- "CD Plyr": This button turns
on and off the CD Player module. When this button is used to launch
the CD Player module, the CD engine is started as needed. When closing
the CD Player window, the engine is not stopped.
- "Spectrum": This button turns
on and off the Spectrum module. When this button is used to launch the
Spectrum module, the Waves engine is started as needed. When closing
the Spectrum window, the engine is not stopped.
- "Mixer": This button turns
on and off the Mixer module. When this button is used to launch the
Mixer module, the Mixer engine is started as needed. When closing the
Mixer window, the engine is not stopped.
- "Visuals": This button turns
on and off the Visuals module, in which the screen savers are hosted.
When this button is used to launch the Visuals module, the Waves engine
is started as needed. When closing the Visuals window, the engine is
not stopped.
- "CD Icon": This button turns
on and off the CD Icon on the taskbar (tray). When this button is used
to launch the CD Icon, the CD engine is started as needed. When turning
off the CD Icon, the engine is not stopped.
- "Vol Icon": This button turns
on and off the Volume Icon on the taskbar (tray). When this button is
used to launch the Volume Icon, the Waves engine is started as needed.
When turning off the Volume Icon, the engine is not stopped.
- "CD Info DB": This button
turns on and off the CD Information Database module.
- "Scope": This button turns
on and off the Scope module. When this button is used to launch the
Scope module, the Waves engine is started as needed. When closing the
Scope window, the engine is not stopped.
- "Media Files": This button
turns on and off the Media Files module, where WAV and MP3 files are
played. When this button is used to launch the Media Files module, the
Waves engine is started as needed. When closing the Media Files window,
the engine is not stopped.
- "Layouts": This button turns
on and off the Layouts module, in which you can store and recall several
of your favorite layouts for CD/Spectrum Pro.
- "Help": This button launches
the online help for CD/Spectrum Pro, which if you're reading this, you've
probably already figured out :)
- "About": This button launches
our Synthesoft About dialog, in which you can check for current versions,
register, etc.
- "Register": This button launches
our Synthesoft About dialog, in which you can check for current versions,
register, etc. Once you've purchased a registration for CD/Spectrum
Pro, this button turns into an About button.
The context menu in the Console window is accessible via right-click
anywhere in the window.
- "Always on Top": Turn this
option on to keep CD/Spectrum Pro visible above all other windows at
all times.
- "Taskbar Icon": Turn this
option on to have an icon in your taskbar (tray) so you can control
CD/Spectrum Pro via right-click on that icon.
- "3D Look": Turns on and off
the "3D" look of CD/Spectrum Pro.
- "Prevent Window Movement":
Turn this option on to prevent the component windows from accidentally
moving when you click on them.
- "Lock Windows Together":
Turn this option on to cause all component windows to move together
when you move one of them.
- "Large Font Size": Turn this
on to double the font size. Note that at some sizes, this may cause
text to exceed the bounds of buttons, etc. Still, this can be a useful
setting when CD/Spectrum Pro is used at small sizes.
- "Prevent Screen Saver": Turn
this option on to prevent the screen saver from kicking in while you're
spaced out watching the scope, spectrum, or visuals windows.
- "Colors and Background":
Choose this menu option to bring up a dialog in which you can change
the colors and background bitmaps used by the program.
- "Font": Choose this menu
option to bring up a dialog in which you can choose the font used by
the program.
- "Set Hotkeys": Choose this
menu option to bring up a dialog in which you can set/unset the hotkeys
used by the program.
- "Layouts": This popup menu
gives you quick access to your favorite stored layouts.
